The call to the FRED access number 01-300 060 will be billed by your phone company as a landline call. Go
here for a list of our call rates per minute for the (international) telephone number you dial.
But I don't have to pay extra for the 01-300 060 number, do I?
The access number is not a premium rate number but a geographical landline number. Ask your operator for the rate for calls to Austrian landline numbers. The best thing would be if you had free minutes for dialling landline numbers, because then you could dial in for free. But even the landline rate and the FRED foreign rate added together are nearly always the significantly cheaper option.
What does FRED actually mean?
Nothing. FRED just sounds good.
Why is FRED so much cheaper? What's the catch?
There is no catch. You don't need to give your personal details and you don't have to sign on any dotted line. Thanks to the huge purchasing power we enjoy when making calls abroad, FRED can pass on these cost-savings to you.
How can I store contacts in my mobile so that I can make calls with FRED?
You edit your contact details and before you dial the number abroad, just dial the FRED access number printed in your dealer's brochure or dial the general access number - 01-300 060 and a „p“ for pause. You can find some instructions as to how you can enter the „p“ for pause
here.
Or ask your mobile phone manufacturer or dealer.
Do I have to store my contacts in my mobile phone with the FRED dial prefix?
No, but we recommend you do so! We know from experience that if you don't, mistakes are likely to be made and you could end up being connected by your phone operator and paying more.
